Robin and Linda Williams: August Happenings 2009Dear Friends,
We're just back from Southern Shores, NC having spent a week on the Outer Banks. We had a great time getting some R and R as well as working on music and various business details for upcoming trips and projects. We took on a completely different schedule from our "normal" lives in that we started setting a clock to get up early - like 6:00 a.m. - to take advantage of the cool of the day. It was great! We'd forgotten that early morning could be so lovely and !
we enjoyed getting things accomplished before we usually get out of bed. The only problem is we now have to adjust back to "the road" schedule of late nights. Our daily routine culminated with a trip to the beach as everyone else was heading home. Then we'd stay there to watch the moon come up. Tuesday night's full moon was spectacular. !
But enough about that. July was a fun month of work mostly centered on the revival of "Stonewall Country" for The Lime Kiln Theater in Lexington, VA. It was exciting to see what came together so quickly work so well. We enjoyed doing all the music and also enjoyed getting back to a little acting. And we were thrilled to have so many folks from our email list come to see it for the first time. It was an unqualified success and there are plans in the works to schedule more performances for next year. Thanks to all of you who gave us so much support. !
We're getting ready to take off next week for a couple of shows in the mid west and then back to Bristol, VA to be on the public radio show, "Mountain Stage." It sounds like it'll be a great show. We'll be there with The Flatlanders, Robert Cray, and Riley Baugus who is filling in for musical giant, Mike Seeger. The news of MIke's recent health problems is cause for much concern. We are keeping him and his wife, Alexia, in our hearts and thoughts. !
Huss and Dalton Guitars (www.hussanddalton.com) has completed the guitar which we will raffle for this year's Fortune Williams Music Festival. It's a "beaut" and we don't mean Montana. You can check it out and get all the specs from the FWMF website (www.fortunewilliamsmusicfestival.org) and there's even a phone number to get raffle tickets. You don't have to be present to win (but you might have to pay shipping charges). Of course, all the proceeds go to help with the costs of putting on the festival. Ticket sales for the festival have been brisk but there are still tickets left for both Friday and Saturday night. The line-up, with Marty Stuart headlining, is also on the festival website. Late September is a great time to visit the Valley of Virginia. You all should come. !
Gotta go. We're having some friends for dinner and need to head to the garden. The cukes and squash are coming in and the tomatoes are turning. We hope you are enjoying the good things that summer brings as much as we are. We'll see you at one of the stops along the way. !
Bumper sticker of the month: I DON'T REPEAT GOSSIP - SO LISTEN CAREFULLY!
Your pals, Robin and Linda
