Robin and Linda Williams: August news

Dear Friends,
Well, there is one more performance of this year's run of "Stonewall Country," the musical that we wrote with Don Baker many years ago. It, once again, has been a rewarding experience and this year's cast and crew have lifted the piece to new heights. The audience response has been amazing and, once again, we're coming away from this most recent escapade energized and ready for more.

It's been a pleasure to be with and around theater folks again and to be part of this immense process of putting on a show. We have such a good time talking to people after the shows and feeling the excitement, not only from those who are seeing it for the first time, but also from those who return year after year. For us "Stonewall Country" is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

And we'll give a special shout out to Don Baker. While the music and the songs are a huge part of "Stonewall Country," Don's writing, his creativity and his vision to combine Appalachian story telling with music can not be overlooked. It's the combination of the music and the book that has made "Stonewall Country" such a unique piece of work. And thanks to Tom Conway, Cherie Sheppard, Barry Mines, Doug Harwood and Jim Watson who, along with Don, go back to the early days of SWC and make special arrangements in their lives in order to come together with us and and bring the show to life so quickly.

We're pleased to hear that our new CD of the "Stonewall Country" music is garnering some good airplay. We appreciate all those in Radio Land who play our music. With so much good music coming out all the time it's no small thing to have your songs played on the air.

Other things in our lives are rolling along. Ticket sales for the ninth annual Fortune Williams Music Festival (www.fortunewilliamsmusicfestival.org) are good. Jimmy Fortune just ran into our headliner act, Suzy Bogguss at the Grand Ole Opry and says she's excited to be coming. The Huss and Dalton Guitar Company has built a wonderful guitar for the festival raffle. It's a Model TD-M with a beautiful sunburst top. We envy the person who wins this guitar. We've finalized our plans for the Alaskan cruise in July of 2012. Lynette Miller has done a great job of organizing the cruise and taking care of the myriad of details that need taking care of. And our first reservations have started coming in. This is going to be a lot of fun and we're hoping some of you can join us on this adventure. Here is the web site with all you need to know: .

We'll have a few days off after tonight and then we'll go back to our normal lives next weekend with some dates here in Virginia. We'll be busy between now and then. The garden is coming in and Robin is working on next winter's firewood. Sometimes we feel we have to go on the road to get some rest.

Hope this finds you well and that we get to see you at one of the stops along the way. And stay in touch. You can always reach us through our website.
