Robin and Linda Williams: Hello 2024

Dear Friends,
Happy New Year! It's a sunny Sunday morning in the Shenandoah Valley and the ice from yesterday's storm is rapidly melting from the power lines and trees. So rather than go outside and get soaked from the dripping branches we thought we'd fire off our first newsletter for 2024. 2023 ended with a bang for us. As far as work goes, we couldn't be more pleased. November had us rekindling the fires underneath a musical we thought had long ago been extinguished and left us thinking that we may see a production of it sometime in '24 or '25. December's holiday season was filled with Christmas and Hank Williams songs, and we had great fun singing them to appreciative audiences. It was a fun way to end 2023.

We've spent the first week of 2024 straightening up the messes in the office and music room caused by months of frantically coming and going. It's interesting how little time it takes to create disorder and disarray and how much time it takes to clean it up. But it needs to be done if only because it helps us shift our brains from the work that is needed to keep us on the road - the phone calls, the emails, the planning - to the work that is the reason we want to be on the road - you know, the music.

So, now it's goodbye to the holiday and Hank songs and hello to the normal repertoire, and especially to the new songs that have been hanging around wanting to break into the starting lineup. We hope they fare well against the tried-and-true Robin and Linda tunes that have stood the test of time. This is always an interesting process, bringing forth new songs. We have a good strong group of them but it's only after they have been sung in front of audiences that we know if they will stick around or not. So, we'll be hammering away at them to see which of them will for sure get their shot at upcoming gigs in northern Virginia and in Charlottesville. This will be our first appearance in Charlottesville since before the pandemic and the Jefferson Theater will be a perfect venue for them to see the light of day.

Bumper Sticker of the Month; "Your call is very important to us. Please enjoy this 40-minute flute solo.'

As we continue with our 50th year of performing we're grateful for the support we receive from all of you, and for being able to play in front of the best audiences in the history of the music business. We're looking forward to seeing what 2024 has in store for us. Hopefully, we'll see you at one of the gigs along the way. Remember, live music makes you smarter.

Your pals,
Robin and Linda
