Peter, Tess and Gigs

Dear Friends,

Greetings from downtown Staunton, VA where spring has finally sprung and to our complete surprise and delight we have iris blooming in the front yard and some tulips in the back yard. We've officially made it through winter in our new place and now we're seeing what's in store for us as people come out of hibernation and start hanging out in their yards and on their porches.  This is a new experience for us, having neighbors all around.

It's been a fun few weeks, getting back to gigging. Last weekend it was MerleFest, a complete sensory overload but a fun time, and the Wayne Theatre where a big crowd of local folks came out to see us play. Nothing makes us more nervous than playing at home in front of folks who see us on the streets every day, folks who've heard our songs and our jokes - and they love us anyway. Scott Miller, bless his heart, came by to add some spice and we sang some of the songs we've written together.

Prior to that we made a weekend foray into West Virginia and, before that, we were five days in the Midwest during which we spent a memorable three hours with our friend Peter Ostroushko.  Peter, a brilliant musician and a long time friend of ours, is probably no stranger to many of you.  He was Garrison Keillor's musical go-to-guy the first few years of A Prairie Home Companion, he's recorded with hundreds of artists and released a dozen or so CDs of his own - and now he and Marge, his wife, can use our help. He had heart surgery in early January and, at a follow up appointment, had a dramatic stroke in the doctor's office. His whole left side has been compromised and he's been in a rehab situation ever since. As you can imagine, the bills not covered by insurance are starting to pile up, so a GoFundMe campaign has been set up. Any amount, no matter how small will be appreciated. So, please, help them by giving what you can. The link is https://www.gofundme.com/peter-and-marge.

Bumper Sticker Of The Month: Alex, I'll take "Things Only I Know" for $1,000.

Many of you met Tess, our latest canine traveling companion. She left us for The Rainbow Bridge, ten days ago and she is missed. We still find remembrances of her around the house that trigger fond thoughts. Or we'll hear a sound and think it's her. It's fascinating the way pets insinuate their lives into ours. She was such a good girl. Click on her picture to hear her song.)

Our merrymaking continues this month as we keep up the traveling. It's the Shady Grove Coffeehouse this Saturday in the Richmond, VA area, the next weekend we'll make our first stop at Jorma Kaukenon's Fur Peace Ranch in Pomeroy, OH and we'll end up the month in New York state. The last we heard there are tickets still available so, if you're close, come on out and see us. Remember, music makes you smarter.

Your pals,
 Robin and Linda
