December "Doings"Hey folks, Here's a quick message to let the good folks in Michigan and Virginia know that we're coming to your area with our Christmas show.First, Michigan! We'll return to East Lansing this Friday for the first time in a while as part of The Ten Pound Fiddle Concert Series. The Ten Pound Fiddle is an important influence on the Central Michigan cultural scene, and we're pleased to be coming back. "East Landoo," as Linda calls it, is also the home of her Alma Mater, Michigan State University, where she spent four action-packed years with her guitar and, to some degree, her studies. The next night we're concertizing at the Muskegon Museum of Art. This is our first time in Muskegon since May of 1973 when we passed through there on our way to our very first Robin and Linda Williams gig at the Ashland (WI) Folk Festival. We, in our 1965 Ford Econoline van, took an overnight ferry across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin and exited the ferry in the morning behind a car full of crew members who stopped at the first bar they came to. Welcome to Wisconsin. And, later in the month, we'll be "Home for the Holidays" for what is turning into a yearly Christmas show in our hometown. The Blackburn Inn complex has been through several previous iterations as a mental health institution and a prison. The "Great Hall" where we'll perform, a nice venue now, was the laundry room for those institutions. Whether it's Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, The Ryman Auditorium, or The Laundry Room, we answer the call and go where we're wanted. Ê We'll close out December with the annual Hank Williams Tribute Shows. You can't have more fun with the lights on than singing Hank Williams songs. I think most folks who've attended the shows in the past will agree. And lastly, we'll join Garrison Keillor in a just added January show in Waynesboro, VA. If you're interested, you might get your tickets quickly as they seem to be flying out the door. Bumper Sticker of the Month: The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list. " Onward and upward! It's hard to believe sometimes but, as we sang on our most recent CD, there's ÒA Better Day A'Coming." As proof, we'll soon be playing music in front of some of the best audiences in the history of show business. Come see us if you're close. Live music makes you smarter.
