Robin and Linda Williams: Roofs, Anniversaries, and Singles
Dear Friends,
We hope this finds you doing well. We've lately been at home getting things done on and around the house. The roofing job we mentioned last month turned into a grind but finally got finished and the roof now faces the heavens in all its shining, metallic splendor. Our pockets are emptier, but we did get a new appreciation of Sirius XM's "Caliente," "en Vivo," and "Aguila" channels. It and another recording session put us way behind in our garden, but we'll be getting our hands dirty in the next few days.
The recording session turned specific this time and our concentration centered on getting one song in particular, "The Flimflam Blues" finished. We are making plans to release it as a single, so we've gotten it recorded, mixed and mastered, and now the plan is for it to be released on June 25th. We will, of course, make an announcement and it will be available on all streaming platforms.
From the "Unexpected News Department," our friend, John Lowell, an outstanding singer/guitarist/songwriter from Livingston, MT, recently recorded one of our songs, "Step It Out Nancy." It's always a kick for us when someone finds one of our songs meaningful enough to record on their own. His take on the tune is creative and thoughtful and fun for us to listen to. Who knows, we might bring it back and do it his way. You should hear it. It's on an album of modern western songs, "Snow on The Wineglass," which is a delight to listen to. Bumper Sticker of the Month (thanks to email list member, Douglas Ingalls) -- Forgive me for driving so close in front of you.
A couple of days ago, we celebrated (gulp) 51 years of marriage. What a heck of a ride it's been so far, a metaphoric festival of love, music, and travel, performing in every state of the union but Hawaii and on four continents, from pass-the-hat bars to Carnegie Hall and the Ryman Auditorium and every imaginable type of venue in between, and playing on radio shows, on television shows with wonderful musicians, famous and not, and being in a movie where we hobnobbed with bigtime movie stars, and sharing our songs with the best audiences in the history of the music business. The music we've played, the experiences we've shared and the many friendships we've developed have enriched our lives beyond measure.
But the best part of it all, the harmonious adventure continues.
Don't forget to go see some live music. We hear it makes you smarter. And keep on the sunny side.
Your pals,
Robin and Linda
