March Madness

Dear Friends,

We are headed to Nashville to record a new CD and are excited to get started on this project.  This is our 40th year of being married, singing and working together, and with that in mind, we took along look through our catalogue and have brought back to life someold songs, several of which never made it to the digital age.  It's been interesting to see what has emerged.  We made a CD of demos we recorded on Robin's iPhone and listened to it several times on the road to Nashville.  We feel like it all hangs together and that we're in pretty good shape.  But the proof will be in the pudding, as they say. Also included in the song list are one new original and three covers from artists we've listened to most of our lives.  We don't have a title yet, but we're taking suggestions.

March is always crazy as winter and spring seem to constantly battle one another for supremacy.  On the road to Nashville we drove through patches of snow and then sunny hillsides of blooming daffodils.  And if you're a basketball fan, it gets crazier as college basketball's March Madness comes into full swing - with Virginia's men's team playing just good enough to be teetering on the edge of an invitation to the NCAA tournament.  As usual, being a UVA fan is hard on the nerves but we've watched every game we could this year.  And, just to add to the unsettled nature of things, we are heading out on a tour of three dates in California and four in Hawaii as a duo.  Hawaiii's the only state we've never been to or performed in, so that's a big milestone for us.  And while we've played a handful of isolated duo shows over the years, it's the first time since the late '80s that we've done any touring, just the two of us. So this is all very exciting and it is a challenging and fun idea to embrace.  But we are also looking forward to April when we get back to playing gigs with The Fine Group.

In the Other News Department, we were happy to find out that our CD "Stonewall Country" made the top 100 most played CDs of 2012 on the Roots Music Folk Chart.  As we said on our Facebook page, this kind of thing doesn't pay any bills but it does indicate work well done.

Bumper sticker of the month: "If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough" - Mario Andretti. Thanks to Paula Rosenburg.

We look forward to seeing you along the way and hearing what's new.  Spread the word: "There's nothing like live music."

Your pals,
Robin and Linda
